Dr William J. Rutter is the Chairman of Synergenics LLC, a consortium of companies that take complementary approaches to diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of infectious and metabolic diseases. Prior to this, he was the Co-Founder and Chairman of Chiron Corporation that is known for:

• Development of recombinant DNA-based vaccines including Hepatitis B
• Discovery of Hepatitis C (HCV)
• Structure of HIV, which led to quantitative nucleic acid tests for HIV, HBV, and HCV

While he was the Chairman of Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), his lab made key contributions to the manufacturing of insulin and other hormones using recombinant DNA technology. He played a significant role in the evolution of UCSF into one of the premier scientific institutions and facilitated the biotechnology boom in the Bay Area during the 1980s.  As a PhD graduate from the University of Illinois, he pursued his postdoctoral work at the University of Wisconsin, and the Nobel Institute in Sweden. A member of The National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of American Arts and Sciences, Dr Rutter has close to 400 scientific articles and 26 patents to his name.

Anurag Bagaria is the Chairman and CEO of Kemwell Biopharma, India’s largest biologics CDMO that provides customized process development, product development, and cGMP manufacturing solutions to global biopharmaceutical companies.

Although Anurag joined Kemwell in 2004 as a second-generation entrepreneur, he became the CEO in 2010. He spearheaded the expansion of Kemwell’s facilities in India, Sweden and the US, providing CDMO services to small and large molecule drugs in the global markets. In 2017, he led the sale of Kemwell’s small-molecule services business to Recipharm AB.

Anurag also serves on the Board of Stempeutics and ProLynx and is a board observer on Apexigen Inc. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.

Sumit Bagaria, CEO and Managing Director of Hemogenomics Pvt. Ltd, is one of the founders who has been running the company since its inception in 2002. Under his leadership, Hemogenomics emerged as a leader in Molecular Blood Screening (NAT) for HIV and Hepatitis before blood transfusion, with a national presence in hospitals and blood banks. His unwavering passion to ensure safe blood transfusion and early detection of cancer is what drives the company. He comes with nearly three decades of experience, working in various sectors — from medical devices and real estate software to tea machinery manufacturing and warehousing.

As a Trustee and Director of Bagaria Charitable Trust, Bagaria Public Welfare Trust, Bagaria Foundation, Indian Foundation for Safe Blood, and the Film Heritage Foundation, he is involved in many philanthropic activities in education, health, environmental conservation, and heritage.

An MBA graduate from IIM Calcutta, Sumit has spent his formative years studying and building lifelong bonds at The Doon School, Dehradun.

His extensive knowledge of health screening and safety has helped him gain the respect of his customers and peers. While he is generous, transparent, and open to his employees, he also keeps them on their toes to provide the best support to his customers. And when he is not in the business of saving lives he can be found singing retro songs or playing with his two adorable pet dogs.
