Our Genesis

Our Genesis

It all started when our Founder, Sumit Bagaria’s brother was diagnosed with Hepatitis C and the infection was traced back to the time when he had received a blood transfusion after a road accident. The family was left shocked and heartbroken. In those days, there was limited awareness about Transfusion Transmitted Infections (TTI), especially Hepatitis C.

When the first round of medicines wasn’t effective enough, Sumit had to travel to the USA to get his brother treated. During the treatment, he happened to meet Dr William J Rutter, the scientist and academician who cloned the Hepatitis C virus, developed the Hepatitis B vaccine, and launched NAT testing in the world.

On learning about NAT, Sumit’s mind was filled with hope.

The HOPE to ensure safe blood transfusion in India.

The HOPE to prevent infections through Blood Transfusion.

The HOPE for a healthy India.

With the determination that no more Indians should suffer from the danger of unsafe blood transfusion like his brother, Sumit collaborated with Dr Rutter and embarked on a journey towards ensuring safe blood for all, one that he continues to pursue till today.

Throughout his life, Sumit has seen friends and family suffer from cancer. Seeing this, he decided that we couldn’t limit ourselves to just screening for transfusion medicine. We usually see people affected by cancer going to the doctor once it has already spread. We want to change this and make a paradigm shift in the detection of cancer, starting with cervical cancer screening. By bringing appropriate technologies for early detection, we want to impact as many lives as possible.
